6-Zone Vacuum Table Workholding with Clamping
The Q.408 comes equipped with a standard 6-zone composite vacuum table, designed for fast work material changeovers and powerful holding force to keep materials securely in place throughout the production cycle. Additionally, integrated t-track clamping allows for easy fixture placement and the ability to hold non-vacuum-friendly materials, enhancing versatility and convenience.
Pop-up Pins for Precise Job Alignment
The Q-Series features integrated 16mm hardened pop-up pins that ensure precise sheet material alignment, optimizing operator efficiency in production settings. These pins facilitate quick and accurate alignment for two-sided jobs and are built to withstand the rigors of a busy shop, handling heavy materials with ease. Pneumatically controlled, the pins can be retracted either manually or automatically at the start of a job, preventing potential collisions and ensuring safe, seamless operation.
7HP Automatic Tool Changer
At the core of the Q.408 is a 7HP, air-cooled automatic tool changer spindle, built in the USA for maximum power and efficiency. Capable of driving 1/2" end mills through most wood and sign materials at speeds up to 1,400 inches per minute, it is the most powerful spindle available on a single-phase CNC router. The spindle uses standard ISO30 tool holders with ER32 collets, accommodating up to 3/4" shank tools. The integrated tool rack can hold up to 10 tools, enabling seamless tool changes and extended production capabilities.
Integrated Tool Touch-Off Sensor
The Q.408 features an integrated Tool Touch-Off Sensor embedded in the machine bed, streamlining tool setup by allowing the spindle to measure and store the length of each tool automatically. This sensor can also be programmed to set the Z-height of jobs in relation to the spoilboard surface, enhancing accuracy and repeatability. This thoughtful engineering solution saves time and ensures precise performance in a production environment.
Removable Floating Automatic Dust Boot
The Q.408 prioritizes effective dust collection to maintain a clean workspace and a healthier work environment. This also reduces maintenance intervals and maximizes machine uptime. The pneumatic dust boot raises automatically during tool changes and job completion, then lowers to float on the material surface as the Z-axis moves independently. This ensures consistent contact with the work surface, capturing dust and debris throughout production for optimal extraction. The dust boot can be easily removed without tools, thanks to its magnetic base plate, and the standard 4" hose connects to any industry-standard dust collection system.
Crosshair Job Positioning System (JPS)
Quick and accurate job alignment is essential for efficient CNC production. The Stepcraft Job Positioning System (JPS) uses a crosshair laser to provide a precise reference point for setting your job’s starting position. Once aligned, the UCCNC machine control software automatically offsets the spindle center to the laser's start point, simplifying the alignment process. Whether aligning to edges or specific points on the material, the JPS streamlines setup, saving time and enhancing operator productivity.
