  Several years ago I purchased a 36" Varijig Clamp guide. I never worked out how to clamp it in position. Regardless of the position of the clamping handle the movable clamp part remained loose and did not clamp at all?

  The secret to great clamping with the varijig is two leave the lever up almost vertical, bring the two ends of the clamp together against the work piece, push the clamp handle down once, so its flat, and again so the clamp handle is pointing down this will clamp the straight edge rigid.
