Woodpeckers Clamp-N-Guide combines a straightedge with a clamp. Now, building a clamp into a straightedge isn't exactly a new idea, they've been around since the 80's. But what's new is a clamping handle that gives better leverage, a knurled steel clamp rod for a better grip and a low-friction anodized surface finish for smoother tool travel. Add to that a newly designed Router Adapter that works with almost every router ever made and you have Woodpeckers Clamp-N-Guide System.
Let's start with a closer look at the Router Adapter. Sure, you can press your router against a straightedge and rout a groove. But grain switchbacks and bit condition can fight against you, trying to pull the router away from the guide. The Clamp-N-Guide Router Adapter locks into the straightedge, keeping everything right on track and delivering flawless grooves, dadoes, rabbets and mortises. You can also add a pair of stops to limit the travel of the Router Adapter for mortises and stopped dadoes.
Most router adapters that follow a guide rail have an annoying feature. They elevate the router base above the workpiece. Your router is either surfing half-way on top of the rail or it gets mounted to another "universal" base. Clamp-N-Guide keeps your router base where it belongs…flat on your work. The key is using the guide rod connection, a feature that's almost as old as routers themselves. Our track and rod system adjusts to any spacing between the rods and any thickness of base. New router or old, chances are the Clamp-N-Guide Router Adapter will fit.
However, you're not limited to using the Clamp-N-Guide with the Router Adapter. Use it to keep your circular saw right on line, just like the fancy track saws…but without the fancy price tag. It's perfect for the first few cuts on a sheet of plywood to get the sections the right size to finish on your table saw.
And when your project is further along, don't forget these are great assembly clamps, too. Slide the tailstock up to your work and grab the hand-sized hand grip to cinch it up. The clamping rod is knurled giving the clamp clutches a firm grip.
We make the Clamp-N-Guide in two sizes, 24" and 48" clamping capacity. The Router Adapter is available with 4 different guide rod sizes, 1/4", 5/16", 3/8" and 10mm. There's a chart in the "Specifications" tab of the web page that shows you the right sized guide rods for many popular routers and how to measure the holes in your router base if it's not on the list.
Like all Woodpeckers products, the Clamp-N-Guides and the Router Adapters are precisely machined and carefully inspected in Strongsville, Ohio, facility just south of Cleveland.
