What size is the inlet?
The inlet port size is 6”. It comes with a splitter that fits over the 6” inlet. The splitter has two 4” inlets so that you can connect multiple hoses to the machine. We recommend installing blast gates on each port so that you can control which machine you are collecting from when multiple machines are connected.
Will I need to assemble the dust collector?
Yes. The P|Flux dust collectors ship disassembled to avoid damage during shipping and requires assembly prior to use.
What are the differences between the P|Flux and the C|Flux machines?
Both machines use the same motor, impeller, and basic frame. The C|Flux has a 1 micron filter; the P|Flux has a HEPA filter. The C|Flux uses a plastic bag for fine dust that is cleaned from the filter; the P|Flux uses a metal catch receptacle with a 4” cleanout port and a sight window. The C|Flux has a quick release collection drum; the P|Flux has a quick release “Smart-Drum” with a dust level sensor and LED light for viewing through the drum window. The P|Flux has additional frame supports, filter doors, and sound dampening material around the filter. The C|Flux has manual filter cleaning; the P|Flux has automatic filter cleaning.
What are the differences from earlier versions to the 2022 model?
New features and changes for 2022 include: 3-piece 25 gallon drum for easier assembly, LED drum illumination, automatic filter cleaning, ambidextrous control panel that can be mounted on the right or left side of the machine, threaded cleanout cap, LED and audio drum-full warning, updated remote, locking front casters, and newly designed control panel.
Can I reuse the collection bags?
Yes. You can empty and reuse the dust collection bags if desired. Replacement bags are also available. These are sold in a package of 5 bags.
Why are there 2 numbers listed for CFM?
The “Inlet CFM” is the maximum CFM the P|Flux dust collector achieves at the inlet port. The “Shop Setting CFM” number provides a “real world” measurement with dust collection hose connection to the machine and measurements taken downstream.
How fine is the filter?
The P|Flux filter cartridge is a HEPA filter that filters out 99.97% of particles with a size of 0.3 microns . The filter cartridge is cleaned with automatic filter cleaning (2022 and newer) which cleans dust out of the filter pleats so that it is ready for the next use.
Will this keep from having dust in the shop?
The Pflux dust collector is excellent at collecting dust, chips, and shavings from the source (bandsaw, tablesaw, planer, etc.). This helps keep the dust away from the moving parts of the machines to keep it from becoming airborne. We recommend a dual approach for shops:
1. Removing dust from the source with a quality dust collector.
2. Filtering ambient shop air, particularly when sanding or other operations that produce fine dust, with an Air Filtration System. This two-step collection provides the best air quality for your shop.
Does the P|Flux come with a remote control?
Yes, the Pflux comes with a remote control. Additional remotes can be purchased and paired with the Pflux machine. Up to 5 remotes can be paired. The new remote includes a button for manual filter cleaning between the normal intervals.
Can I connect this to ducting for several machines?
Yes. The Pflux1 dust collector is designed for direct hose connections to individual machines, although many users have small ducted systems for a few machines. We recommend dust collectors with higher CFM ratings like the C|Flux: 3 and P|Flux: 3 series machines for ducted systems. If you choose to connect multiple machines with ducting, you will want to remove the splitter to connect a 6” main trunk line with 4” drops to each machine using blast gates to turn off collection to machines not in use to maximize CFM to the machine currently in use.
Can I collect materials other than sawdust with this machine?
Our dust collectors are specifically designed and tested for woodworking dust, chips, and shavings and are designed to collect from woodworking machines. We have customers who use our dust collectors for many other applications such as plastics, paper, grinding dust, powder, and a wide range of other materials from various sources or machines. While our dust collectors may work well for these other applications, we do not have any testing data or connection information for these other uses. You will need to decide which unit would be best for your needs based on the CFM and how you intend to connect to your equipment.
Can I use other remote controls like iVac?
No. The P|Flux machines use magnetic safety switches which are not suitable for aftermarket systems like the iVac system. Use of these types of systems will require bypassing the factory switches.
What machines does this work best with?
The P|Flux dust collector is designed for single machine operation. It works well with Tablesaws, Bandsaws, Jointers, Planers, Sanders, Router Tables, CNC machines, and more.
What size hose should I use for the P|Flux dust collector?
The inlet on the P|Flux 1 is an 6” inlet. It is supplied with a 2-way splitter that fits onto the 6” inlet. The splitter has two 4” inlet ports. We recommend using a 4” diameter dust collection hose with this machine. Should you need to connect to machines with smaller outlets like miter saws or similar portable machines, we recommend stepping the 4” hose down with a reducer near the machine being connected to. Users may need to provide “bleed air” when stepping down to smaller sizes. This is accomplished by installing another inlet on a Y fitting that can be opened to introduce additional ambient air into the air-stream when collecting from smaller outlets. This additional air helps to keep up the velocity in the 4” hose and keeps the impeller from starving for airflow when connected to small ports.
What is the warranty?
New woodworking machines sold by Laguna Tools carry a two-year warranty. Machines sold through dealers must be registered with Laguna Tools within 30 days of purchase to be covered by this warranty. Laguna Tools guarantees all new machines sold to be free of manufacturers’ defective workmanship, parts and materials.
Where is Laguna made?
Laguna Classic Series machines are designed in California at our Huntington Beach facility and are manufactured and shipped globally. The Pflux dust collector is manufactured at an ISO-9001 certified facility in Taiwan.
Is the P|Flux dust collector certified?
Yes, the P|Flux dust collector is CSA inspected and certified. The CSA certification means it has been tested against applicable North American standards requirements and is widely accepted by many government and code officials, regulatory and regulation bodies, leading retailers, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). The CSA mark demonstrates that a product has been rigorously tested to applicable standards. These include standards written or administered by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), Underwriters Laboratories (UL), CSA Group (CSA), NSF International (NSF), and other North American and global organizations
Can the remotes be used through walls?
The remotes are RF (radio frequency) rather than the IR (infrared) type used by other manufacturers. The RF remote controls do not require line-of-sight like IR remotes. This allows them to be used through many walls. An additional benefit is that they do not affect fluorescent shop lighting.
What plug does this machine come with?
The P|Flux and C|Flux machines are shipped with a 6’ cord but without a plug. You will need to select and purchase separately a plug that matches your shop outlets. Common plugs are readily available at most home improvement stores.
Can I change this machine from 110 volt to 220 volt?
Yes, The P|Flux:1 has a dual voltage motor that can be operated on either 110 or 220 volt power. To change from 110 t0 220 volt power, you will need to change the wiring connection on the circuit board (2022 models and newer) and change the wiring connections at the motor. The conversion kit (SKU: PF1CONV220V) will also be needed for the conversion. This kit includes the Auto-Clean Motor, Capacitor, and Overload Protector.
