Record your blade’s actual kerf (including runout) by trimming it into the Setup Gauge. This serves as a template to set up your Dado Stop for a fast, precise dado cut. Best of all—there's no dado blade required.
Step 1: Cut a scrap piece of MDF to template on side of your kerf. Without moving the fence, clamp the Setup Gauge to a crosscut sled, contacting the cut piece.
Step 2: Set blade height to the center of the notch. Remove MDF piece and push Setup Gauge through the cut.
Step 3: The material trimmed out is an exact replica of the blade’s kerf, including runout. The resulting gap is used to account for the kerf when setting Leg 2 of the Dado Stop.
