Powermatic 15BHH 15" Helical Head Thickness Planer – Compact Industrial Precision
The Powermatic 15BHH is a 15-inch stationary thickness planer built for woodworking shops that need industrial-level performance in a more compact footprint. Powered by a 3 HP, 230V single-phase motor, it delivers consistent surfacing power for both hardwoods and softwoods across its full 15-inch cutting width, with a maximum stock thickness capacity of 6 inches.
At the core of the machine is a four-row helical cutterhead with 48 four-sided carbide inserts operating at 5,200 RPM. This design produces a smooth, high-quality finish with reduced tearout and significantly lower noise compared to traditional straight-knife systems. Individual inserts are easily rotated or replaced through an accessible cutterhead design, minimizing downtime and maintenance costs.
An integrated digital readout (DRO) provides precise, repeatable thickness control, allowing operators to maintain consistent settings across multiple passes and users without recalibration. Dual feed speeds of 16 FPM and 28 FPM allow flexibility between fine finishing and faster material removal, depending on production needs.
Heavy-duty cast iron infeed and outfeed tables provide a combined 48-inch support surface, delivering rigidity, flatness, and vibration damping for consistent results on long workpieces. A 4-inch bi-directional dust port ensures efficient chip evacuation with a minimum 900 CFM dust collection requirement.
Designed for stability and safety in daily shop use, the planer includes an oversized emergency stop button and an upgraded caster locking and braking system for secure positioning. The 15BHH replaces the 15HH and is backed by a 5-year warranty for long-term reliability.
