The Powermatic PM2014B benchtop configuration is a 14-inch swing, 20-inch between-centers variable speed woodworking lathe designed for professional woodturners and serious hobbyists who need high-end performance in a compact, flexible setup. Powered by a 1 HP inverter-driven VFD motor, it runs from a standard 115V single-phase outlet while delivering smooth, three-phase output for consistent cutting power.
Three selectable speed ranges (15–900 RPM, 30–1,800 RPM, and 60–3,600 RPM) give precise control across roughing, shaping, and fine finishing operations. The sliding headstock adds versatility by allowing outboard turning and improved access for larger or awkward workpieces.
Built with heavy cast iron in the bed, headstock, and tailstock, the PM2014B minimizes vibration and flex, ensuring stable tool control and clean surface finishes. The hardened steel tool rest provides smooth tool movement and long-term durability under demanding use.
The magnetic control box can be repositioned anywhere along the lathe bed for convenience and safety, keeping digital speed readouts and 24-position indexing controls within easy reach. This indexing system supports precise, repeatable decorative work, including fluting, segmenting, and layout-driven turning.
This benchtop version is designed for shops that prefer flexibility: it can be paired with an optional cast iron stand (PM1-484) or used on a custom setup, and it supports expansion with the optional 13" bed extension (PM1-485) to increase between-centers capacity from 20 inches to 33 inches.
