The 13-inch bed extension for the Powermatic PM2014B woodworking lathe is designed to increase working capacity and improve flexibility for spindle and outboard turning applications. When installed, it expands the distance between centers from 20 inches to 33 inches, giving woodturners significantly more room for longer stock and larger projects.
Constructed from heavy cast iron, the extension maintains the same rigidity and vibration-damping characteristics as the original lathe bed, ensuring stable, smooth operation even under load. It mounts to the outboard end of the lathe and can be configured either level with the bed for extended spindle work or lowered for outboard turning setups.
A post extender is included to maintain proper tool rest alignment when the extension is used in the lowered outboard position. This ensures correct centerline height, improving tool control, cutting accuracy, and operator safety during turning operations.
