Carbide tipped double edge folding 'V’ groove & rectangular groove (for thicker walls) industrial router bits for shaping Aluminum Composite Materials (ACM) such as Alucobond®, Dibond® and other brands alike. Designed for scoring the following aluminum/plastic composite materials with 90°, 108°, 135° angles (with flat bottoms) and rectangular grooves:

Aluminum Composite Panel (ACP) is a type of ACM flat panel that consists of two thin aluminium sheets bonded to a non-aluminium core and is widely used as cladding for many diverse applications such as interior and exterior office buildings, external cladding or facades of buildings, hospitals, convention centers, airports, hotels, insulation and signage. **Durabond is a polyethylene core with 0.3mm colored aluminum sheet on either side, pre-finished requiring no decoration.
Routing V-shaped grooves, whereby the aluminum cover and a part of the polyethylene core is removed, allows folding the remaining material by hand.
Specially designed router bits are used to route V-grooves in the above materials to allow easy bending without cracking the bent area. Route within 0.8mm from the bottom of the composite panel to achieve a clean bend/radius. Routing V-shaped grooves, whereby the aluminum cover and a part of the polyethylene core is removed, allows folding the remaining material by hand. - RPM: 18,000-24,000 (*Feed rate should be 120 inches per minute.)
Benefits of ZrN Coating:
- Optimized flute geometry and low Total Indicated Runout (TIR) guarantees clean cuts, essentially eliminates sanding and reduces chatter when used with low TIR spindles
- Creates a harder and tougher cutting ceramic over carbide edge, allowing for a prolonged cutting edge life and helps to prevent the build-up/galling of material in the flutes while cutting
- Has the ability to run and/or be spun much faster than uncoated tools
- High aspect ratio for single pass deep-reach cutting
- High flute volume supports high feed rates and chip loads.
- Flute geometry optimized for cutting sign foam, sign board, hardwoods, thermoplastics and phenolic composites
