We woodworkers have always been an afterthought to drill press designers. Their focus has been on metal-working features. Since 1994 Woodpeckers has built auxiliary tables that transform the drill press into a more functional woodworking machine. Our most innovative model, Woodpeckers DP∙PRO Drill Press Table System, installs in minutes on virtually every drill press table on the market, doesn’t interfere with machine adjustments, expands to support longer work and is the first system to effectively integrate dust collection right at the source.
Fence, Table and Drawer Base…Get it All or Just What You Need
The heart of the system is the DP∙PRO Fence. We made it tall enough to support work vertically as well as horizontally. The micro-adjustable DP-PRO Flip Stops match the fence perfectly and are reversible to work on either side of the bit.
But, it’s more than just a fence. The hollow fence acts as a dust collection duct that picks up the chips right where they’re created, at the center of the fence. Just attach a shop vac or dust collector to the port at the end of the fence and virtually all the chips and dust are sucked up instantly. The dust port can be attached on either end of the fence…whichever best suits your shop layout.
Seems no matter how big your shop is, it isn’t big enough. We designed the DP∙PRO Table with extension wings that slide out for extra support when you need it and tuck back in tight to the central table when you don’t. To accommodate different shop sizes and project needs we offer two table sizes. The 36 " model is 24" wide when the wings are tucked in and 36" with the wings extended. Similarly, the 48" model is 36" closed and 48" extended.
The table and extensions are made from full 1" thick Baltic Birch plywood with black Micro-Dot laminate on both sides. The Micro-Dot surface reduces friction and holds up better to abrasion than smooth laminates. Graduated DP-Tracks provide mounting for both the fence and hold-down clamps. We even milled a clearance slot at the front of the track so you can install hold-downs from the front without moving the fence. And, the replaceable insert is offset so you can get multiple uses from each insert...just turn it 90° for a fresh surface.
The DP∙PRO Drawer Base is the foundation of the system. After-market and shop-built drill press tables have always struggled with two issues, attaching the table to the existing drill press table and maintaining clearance for the elevation crank. The DP∙PRO Drawer Base solves both problems and adds a convenient storage drawer at the same time. The bottom has slots that align with most drill press tables, whether it has T-slots or through-slots, diagonal or parallel. We include hardware to fit the various T-slot designs and multiple sizes of through-slots.
The drawer base elevates the auxiliary table 4" above the main table, providing clearance for even the longest table elevation cranks. By elevating the auxiliary table, we created a perfect place for a drawer to hold your drill bits, chuck keys and clamps.
If you’re ready to turn your drill press into a real woodworking machine, we’ve bundled all these components into turn-key packages for you. The 36/36 and 48/48 DP∙PRO Master Systems (36" table with 36" fence; 48" table with 48" fence) include the DP∙PRO Drawer Base, DP∙PRO Table with extension wings, the DP-PRO Fence that matches the extended table size, two DP∙PRO Flip Stops and a pair of our versatile Knuckle Clamps.
If your shop is crowded and you would prefer your fence matches the table size with the wings tucked in, we offer alternative Master Systems, too. Those would be the 48/36 and 36/24 DP∙PRO Master Systems (48 " table with 36" fence; 36" table with 24" fence). They include the DP∙PRO Drawer Base, DP-PRO Table with extension wings, the DP∙PRO Fence that matches the closed table size, two DP∙PRO Flip Stops and a pair of our versatile Knuckle Clamps.
If you already have one of our drill press tables or you’ve built your own, the best features of the DP∙PRO System will adapt to the table you already have. You can add the DP∙PRO Drawer Base between any auxiliary table and the drill press table. Likewise, if you love the vacuum pick-up of the DP∙PRO Fence, it will fit perfectly on your original Woodpeckers Drill Press Table and can be adapted to just about any other table, as well.
Like all Woodpeckers products, the DP∙PRO Drill Press Tables are precisely machined and carefully inspected in our Strongsville, Ohio, manufacturing facility, just south of Cleveland.
